Ian Smillie appreciates contemporary human resource issues with a career centred on people management functions in the public sector in roles from personnel officer, line manager, human resources manager, regional manager/adviser to consultant. Ian has a particular interest in natural justice, fair dealing and sound workplace relations. With over 30 years experience, Ian is providing services in the human resource field to a variety of mainly public sector agencies on a project or other agreed basis. Ian has a Bachelor of Business (Human Resources, USQ, 1995) qualification and, apart from his role as a consultant, he also acts as a Regional Adviser to the Australian Public Service Commission in Queensland. This may involve responsibilities such as Convenor of a Promotion Review Committee on behalf of the Merit Protection Commissioner, Convenor of an Independent or Joint Selection Advisory Committee or member of a Selection Advisory Committees for a public sector Agency.

 

 

Anne Smillie is experienced as a scribe for Selection Advisory Committees and is also well practiced for several years in selection short-listing and administration. Anne’s predominate career orientation has been in medical research where she has authored wide-ranging papers and publications in the fields of Immunology, Microbiology and Biochemistry. She has shown a strong commitment to ethical investigation in her positions in public and private medical research organisations. Anne has applied her extensive experience in analysis, presentation and reporting to human resource activities and is confident and competent to work as an independent scribe and adviser to selection committees. Anne’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (University of Queensland, 1978) as well as a Doctorate of Philosophy (Field of Public Health) University of Queensland, 2003

 

 

 

 

Robert Smillie’s career is characterised by his demonstrated high levels of achievement in Australia and internationally. Over the past 12 years he has performed roles as President of a private University and Chief Executive Officer of regional TAFE Institutes. His considerable expertise is in the development of academic curricula and the provision of professional and high quality management and education services. Like Ian, Robert also acts as a Regional Adviser to the Australian Public Service Commission in Queensland as, apart from his abilities as an educator, he has significant experience in managing human resources and is highly skilled in recruitment, selection, skills audits, training needs analyses and focussed skills development. He is a proven leader who can identify and achieve corporate objectives, facilitate organisational change and inclusively involve staff in new and innovative methodologies. His academic qualifications include a Master of Education, Graduate Diploma of Education Management and Certificate of Assessment and Workplace Training. He is also a trained Quality Assurance Auditor to ISO 9000:2000 (International Management Standard) as well as a Quality Assurance Auditor ISO 14000 (International Environmental Management Standard).
